Neal Klein Homes has become a participating
partner in the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY
STAR® program to build certified energy-efficient homes.
Neal Klein Homes was the first Northern Arizona homebuilder
named on the EPA website list of ENERGY STAR program participants.
Since 1995, the EPA, working with other
government departments and private industry, has partnered under
the ENERGY STAR program with respected names in the homebuilding
industry to facilitate the construction of homes that are energy-efficient
and more pollutant-free.
As a participant in the program, Neal
Klein Homes is introducing a new class of housing that requires
approximately 30% less energy, giving residents an opportunity
to reduce utility bills.
In order to receive the ENERGY STAR®
program distinction, homes must meet a multitude of independently
monitored standards, all of which are mandated by the ENERGY
STAR® program to provide the home buyer with a more durable
and comfortable home that is also less expensive to maintain.
Homes built under the program's guidelines must meet federal
energy efficiency standards.
The new class of Neal Klein homes features
increased insulation, advanced duct systems, and specially-designed
windows to better regulate internal temperature, requiring smaller
and more efficient heating and cooling systems.
In addition, the construction designs
improve indoor air quality by keeping unwanted drafts, dust,
pollen, and moisture out of the structures, while also increasing
the overall durability of the houses. Other significant benefits
to ENERGY STAR® construction include quieter living conditions
due to the increased insulation, greater fire safety provided
by the energy-efficient building materials, and decreased sun
damage to furniture and finishes due to higher quality windows.
As a further financial incentive,
the ENERGY STAR® program presents each owner with a certificate
verifying the energy-efficiency and other value-added features
of their home, enhancing the anticipated increase of investment
value of the property. ENERGY STAR® has also assembled a
network of financial partner companies that offer special mortgage
options and reduced interest rates.
